If you want to invest in quality stocks without hype or guesswork, start with the framework below. This is the same process Portfolio System Lab uses to turn investing into a repeatable system.
Step 1 — Get the free Compounder Toolkit
Download the scorecard, thesis template, valuation range template, and portfolio rules card.
The Portfolio System Lab Framework (in order)
1) Filter for quality (Scorecard)
Use the Quality Compounder Scorecard to quickly screen for durable business models, pricing power, high returns on capital, strong cash flow quality, and resilience.
Your goal: build a short list worth deeper work.
2) Write a thesis you can defend (1 page)
Capture the moat, growth engine, risks, kill criteria, and what you’ll monitor each quarter—so every decision is traceable and repeatable.
Your goal: make the thesis testable.
3) Value it with a range (Low / Mid / High)
Stop debating a single “fair value.” Use valuation ranges plus a margin-of-safety rule to stay patient and avoid overpaying.
Your goal: buy with odds, not excitement.
4) Manage with rules (Portfolio System)
Position sizing, exposure limits, add rules, trim/sell rules, and a review cadence that keeps emotion out of decisions.
Your goal: prevent unforced errors.
Your first 30 minutes (do this today)
- Pick one stock you already own
- Score it (don’t overthink)
- Write a 5-bullet thesis + 3 kill criteria
- Create a rough valuation range
- Decide: Hold / Watchlist / Trim / Exit (rules > headlines)
